Product photography for e-commerce PackshotCreator

coop@home is the online supermarket created by Coop, the largest retail and wholesale company in Switzerland. Coop@home offers a large range of brand products as well as its own brands. Food goods, groceries and other daily life products are sold online and are directly delivered to the final customer.

A large range of brand products

In order to enhance the product presentation of its webshop, coop@home purchased a few years ago its first PackshotCreator solution. “With more than 13,000 products references for our different shops such as the supermarket, the wine shop or the flower shop, we needed to find a solution to quickly shoot pictures and get a professional result. Moreover, since the beginning we had been doing this task in-house so we didn’t want to change this“.

In 2012, coop@home renewed its solution for the creation of product pictures and invested in the PackshotCreator R3 equipment. With the acquisition of the PackshotCreator R3 solution, coop@home has gone a step further in the e-commerce photography technology: pictures are captured on pure white background, the software allows for automatic background masking, the equipment includes a backlight system and a transparent turntable… All this technology has allowed for the creation of animations or multi-angle-views in an even better quality.

A new generation of automated photo studio

This new-generation PackshotCreator system allows coop@home to shoot even complex products, like wine bottles, for which the system allows for perfect mastering of reflections. As a result, coop@home does not need to send such bottle to a professional photographer for shooting, which is a great advantage since Coop is the largest wine cellar of Switzerland. The company has also been able to spare costs on product shootings. According to Christan Stocker, Webshop Administrator of coop@home, the main advantage of the solution is the capacity to control and master the light as well as the preview of the photo on the computer screen, which allow him to create perfect pictures in just a few clicks!
