Jewelry packshot photography requires dexterity and creativity. Rings, earrings, necklaces and gemstones: we give advice on the different ways to position them, on the use of supports for their placement and on the organization of the repetition of the shots.
With the flat shot, you can present your jewelry collections for e-commerce. Show the whole of a bracelet or necklace: the chain and its decorative elements, its pendant… Carefully position them on the studio set and place your camera on the spot located at the top of the studio.
Use and abuse close-ups when necessary. With this type of visual, you emphasize the particularities of your necklaces, bracelets and pendants: solitaire pendant or details of a prototype.
Position your camera at the desired height and angle in front of the photo studio with the MacroStand. Use the markers to position the camera from 0 to 90°, choose an angle of 30°. You can thus obtain a diving effect on your necklaces, bracelets and rings.
Several solutions are available to you and there is no shortage of them! You can lay the ring flat and photograph it from above. If you have a DIY attitude, use a dot of glue to fix the ring vertically. Another solution, particularly suitable for a fixed or 360° shot, is to use a studio equipped with a vacuum system. This system also avoids retouching. It reduces handling during the shooting. Finally, with the vacuum system, you no longer need glue and additional supports.
To photograph your earrings, it is imperative to take into account the right support. The clasps prevent you from positioning them correctly. Your saviours: foam boards. Thanks to them, you can place your jewels flat and avoid any movement during the shooting. You will then have to erase the foam board during post-production. Another, faster solution is to hang your earrings on a T-bar that can be adapted to the studio we use.
You have just ideally placed a necklace, a gem or a bracelet? In order not to lose this positioning, memorize the image of the placed product. From the packshot software, save and name the image in a library of profiles. Reuse it to photograph a similar item.
